Turnip F1 Tokyo Cross is a very quick maturing Hybrid, pure white, variety. From sowing to harvest is typically 35-60 days depending upon desired harvest size. Roots are a perfect globe shape, with a very smooth texture to the skin and flesh, sweet enough to use at baby vegetable stage in salads, leaves can be used steamed. Can be harvested from 5cm up to 15cm without the risk of going pithy.

Sowing:

Sow seeds 1cm (0.5in) deep.

Early turnips: sow 'Atlantic' or 'Milan Purple Top' under cloches in February and other cultivars from March to June. In succession to provide continual crop of young turnips. Sow thinly with spacing between rows 23-30cm (9-12in) apart keep well watered.

Maincrop turnips: sow thinly from July to mid-August. Space rows 30cm (12in) apart.

Turnip tops: sow thinly in August or September. Space rows 15cm (6in) apart.

Growing:

Thin out turnips grown for their roots until they are eventually 15cm (6in) apart for early crops, or 23cm (9in) apart for maincrops.

Water during dry weather or the roots will be small and woody.

Matures: 35 - 60 days

Suitable for the vegetable garden, allotments and containers.

Be prepared to water well and supplement feed with high-potash feed during season. Regular feeding is recommended.
