Basil is one of the top 5 herbs in UK, used in many different Mediterranean dishes, but is also a great ornamental plant for the summer garden. The range of flavours in Basil is incredible, all due to different combinations of the aromatic oils. Sweet Genovese is far and away the most popular variety, but the market is becoming more open for the less well known types.

Basil Emerito is a neat and compact Genovese type suitable for pot production year around. Deep green leaf colour with good leaf glossineness.

You'll find that the Emerito basil variety produces plants suitable for both cutting and container use and the leaves have an attractive shiny finish. ANNUAL VARIETIES are easily grown from outdoor sowings April-May. TENDER VARIETIES should be sown under glass in March and planted out in May. Both types mature during summer. Sow PERENNIAL VARIETIES outdoors during March-May. These will develop into strong plants by summer of the following year, and will thrive for many years. Harvest July-October.
