Tumbling Tom Red is a determinate trailing type, cherry size sweet red fruits with no side shooting or training required, this variety is easy to grow both outdoors and under glass. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

This tomato does exactly as its name suggests – it's a genuine tumbling variety and is well suited to growing in a basket. The trusses of small, bright red, cherry-sized fruit trailed nicely from all sides of the baskets. 'Tumbling Tom Red' with the rich red fruit struck just the right balance of acidity and sweetness.

Sowing: 

February to April.

Sow seeds 6mm (¼in) deep in pots or trays of good, free draining, damp seed compost and cover with a sprinkling of vermiculite or compost. Place containers in a propagator, or seal in a polythene bag, at a temperature of 18-21C (65-70F) until after germination, which takes 7-10 days.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on at a minimum temperature of 15C (59F). 

When tomato plants are well grown, transplant into baskets and containers. When all risk of frost has passed gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 - 10 days before positioning baskets outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun once all frost risk has passed.

Plant in the greenhouse in individual large pots, or 3 plants per growbag when 20cm (8in) high. Can be planted outdoors, 25-30cm (10-12in) apart once all frost risk has passed.

Suitable for the vegetable garden, allotments and containers.

Be prepared to water well and supplement feed with high-potash feed during season. Regular feeding is recommended.
