Basil is one of the top 5 herbs in UK, used in many different Mediterranean dishes, but is also a great ornamental plant for the summer garden. The range of flavours in Basil is incredible, all due to different combinations of the aromatic oils. Sweet Genovese is far and away the most popular variety, but the market is becoming more open for the less well known types.
Basil Emerito is a neat and compact Genovese type suitable for pot production year around. Deep green leaf colour with good leaf glossineness.
You'll find that the Emerito basil variety produces plants suitable for both cutting and container use and the leaves have an attractive shiny finish. Sow these basil Emerito seeds on a warm windowsill in late spring and keep them in a sunny spot - outside during the summer only - for a supply of fresh leaves for cooking and kitchen use pinching out the tops of basil plants helps
