Golden Self-Blanching Celery produces thick, crisp, juicy, deeply ribbed, tasty celery without the strings or bitter flavour of some other celery. Yellow to green stalks which, if block-planted will self blanch. Good flavour and texture for that all important celery crunch.

Sow Feb - May.

Celery can be fussy, needing everything just right. Good compost, kelp & bone meal mixed in with soil will add nourishment. Start seedlings indoors by scattering seed on top of soil, must be kept moist at all times.

When to sow: From seed direct sow outdoors in autumn or in spring after last frost, does not transplant well.

Start indoors 12 weeks prior to transplanting outdoors.

Celery seed is tiny! Use sterile, fine soil and cover the seed by dusting a light covering.

Many people plant too deeply. An easy way to lightly cover your fine/tiny celery seed is to use a flour sifter or large tea strainer and gently shake a coating over the seed. Keep soil moist (not soggy) and at 75 degrees.

Seedlings will emerge in 2-3 weeks.

In 8-12 weeks when plants are tall enough, plant out in garden. Consistent watering is essential.

Transplant outdoors when weather has settled and there are no more rapid temperature swings. Bolting can be caused when night time temps get below 55 degrees. So do not transplant to early.

Suitable for the vegetable garden, allotments and containers.

Be prepared to water well and supplement feed with high-potash feed during season. Regular feeding is recommended.
