Hollyhock Chater’s Double Mix (Alcea Rosea) are an old fashioned favourite with large, extra double flowers strong stems and a variety of bright colours, flowers usually in second year.

 

A beautiful variety of this cottage garden favourite.

Strong stems of bright flowers in summer.

Hardy perennial. Height 180cm (6').

Culture: Usually grown as a biennial. Sow April-June for flowers June-August the following year, Temperature: 20°C

Cover with a layer vermiculite or compost or sow direct outside May-June.

Average Growing Height: 151-200CM

Advice: Sow February for first year flowering. Can be sown later and overwintered for planting out following spring after last frosts.

 

A favourite for the rear of the cottage garden.

Ideal for beds and borders, and as cut flowers.

Attractive to butterflies. Prefers full sun.

 

Suitable for the vegetable garden, allotments and containers.

Be prepared to water well and supplement feed with high-potash feed during season. Regular feeding is recommended.
