Maturing after approximately 90-100 days, this popular Calabrese F1 Zen variety has excellent high domed, dark green heads which shed rain well, with a solid stem. Tolerant of Downy Mildew

Crops best in autumn, from a June planting. Can be grown over a long season, often succeeding where other Brassicas fail. Also once the main heads are removed, small side shoots form, which are ideal for florets.

Sow: For large crowns, sow end March to mid July in blocks or modules, for harvesting July to September.  For direct sowing, sow from April to June.  Do not use bare root transplants, as they are prone to bolt.

Germinates between 7 and 30°C and between 7-10 days depending on soil temperatures.

Plant out April-July at around 23 x 30cm, 30 x 30cm

Harvest: June-December. Cut the main crown when in tight bud.  Side shoots will subsequently develop.

Lower crop density gives a longer period of harvest, as more secondary heads are produced. The heads must be cut whilst in tight bud; once per week in cool weather, and twice a week is essential in warm weather.

Later maturity is possible in milder climates.

Suitable for the vegetable garden, allotments and containers.

Be prepared to water well and supplement feed with high-potash feed during season. Regular feeding is recommended.
