Popular Mediterranean aromatic herb. Woody perennial. Attractive for specimen or hedging.

Fragrant leaves used for flavouring soups, stews, fish or meat dishes and cooked vegetables. (Germination is very slow and can be erratic). A weak infusion is reputed to relieve headaches. Perennial. Height 120-150cm (4-5').
 

Culture:

ANNUAL VARIETIES are easily grown from outdoor sowings April-May. TENDER VARIETIES should be sown under glass in March and planted out in May. Both types mature during summer.

PERENNIAL VARIETIES outdoors during March-May. These will develop into strong plants by summer of the following year, and will thrive for many years. Harvest July-October.
 

Average Growing Height: 101-150CM

Suitable for the Garden, vegetable garden, allotments, borders and containers.

Be prepared to water well and supplement feed with high-potash feed during season.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Plant in the greenhouse in individual large pots, or 3 plants per grow bag when 20cm (8in) high. Can be planted outdoors, 45cm (18in) apart once all frost risk has passed.
